Safety

As part of your role as an MOPT team member is being the eyes and ears of safety during an event. Hazard identification is critical to emergency prevention during an event. Being proactive in identifying and reporting potential hazardous, incidents or emergency situations immediately; and by maintaining good house-keeping practices, will significantly reduce the chances of incidents and mean you are more prepared if something does occur.

HAZARD REPORTING

All hazards should be reported to VCC / Supervisor or the appropriate security control room immediately

Precinct Control Centre (Rod Laver Arena) – Ph: 9286 1255

AAMI Park Stadium Security Office – Ph: 9286 1280

INCIDENT REPORTING

Whenever an incident occurs you should verbally report this immediately to VCC or your supervisor and if deemed necessary and incident report card should be filled out.

HOUSEKEEPING

Good house-keeping and hazard reduction is an important component of M&OP’s overall health and safety strategy. Good house-keeping includes:

  • Ensuring fire exits and firefighting equipment are free from obstruction
  • Identifying and reporting hazards as they occur
  • Escalating immediately any identified hazard that poses as a direct threat to the health and safety of a person
  • Ensuring your work practices do not interfere with the area’s emergency protection systems, emergency control equipment or evacuation systems

WARDEN RESPONSIBILITIES

An Area Warden is responsible for a designated area of a building or open space; assisting the Chief Warden with the coordination of an emergency response; and supporting any warden activity within their designated area. You should always on every shift identify your nearest emergency exits so if there is an issue you can quickly respond to an emergency.
